Painting in Art in the Metroplex

I have a painting in this exhibit, which opens September 8th:

ART IN THE METROPLEX
25th Annual Exhibition

The show will run Saturday, September 8 through Wednesday, October 3 at the University Art Gallery – TCU. Art in the Metroplex is sponsored by TCU and the Templeton Art Center.

JUROR

Critic and independent curator Michael Duncan is a Corresponding Editor for Art in America. His writings have focused on maverick artists of the 20th century. West Coast modernism, twentieth century figuration, and contemporary California art. His curatorial projects include surveys and recontextualization of works by Pavel Tchelitchew, Sister Carita Kent, Kim MacConnel, Lorser Feitelson, Eugene Berman, Richard Petitbone and Wallace Berman.

Many of the images I do are combinations of photography and invented imagery. The interplay of these two things in an image creates a kind of tension that I like to explore. Stippling, again, is the technique here, as it is in the majority of the ink drawings. At 24"x18", this is one of the largest of my drawings.
